Research Marine Biologist; NOAA

This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Ocean Service (NOS), National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) with one vacancy in Beaufort, NC.

As a Research Marine Biologist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Serve as Principal Investigator to manage and conduct significant coastal ecosystem research, apply current state-of-science, and utilize advanced technologies.
  • Lead portfolio of research projects consistent with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) mission priorities and of importance to inform coastal management decision-making. Serve as scientific expert for biological and ecological science research for projects. Develop and participate in collaborative research partnerships. Maintain awareness of scientific advances and regulatory changes.
  • Perform project management of research studies, including planning, prioritizing and tracking project tasks; reviewing projects for compliance with established practices; tracking project progress; and, identifying new program requirements to meet mission objectives and goals.
  • Communicate research results to scientific and management audiences in writing and verbally through publications, formal briefings, news releases, web articles, conferences, and participation on committees.
